I think some of these yummy recipes and ideas need to be on the other thread which is called something like 'Pressure cooker recipes'.
I did a chicken on Sunday the way cooking-mama did hers, but although it tasted very good and the 'gravy' was really tasty just as it was - didn't even need s&p - the poor old chuck fell apart. I cooked it at full pressure but has anyone tried doing a chuck at 30 mins but at the (Kuhn Rikon) lower pressure ? I just wondered if that might be kinder to the little chuck bones.0 -
ive decided to invest in the Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker too,(once i get paid)the prestige smartplus is excellent for mince based dishes and potatoes, chicken ,veggies etc,but ive read that the kuhn rikon may be better for tougher cuts of meat(diced steak, braising etc)as the prestige operates at max 12psi,but the kuhn rikon is 15psi....and most recipes books are based on 15psi
PS,ive mentioned on the other pressure cooker thread,Lakeland have a wee pressure cooker book for £4.99(same one is £9.99 on Amazon.
yesterday i cooked a kinda chciken n rice dish(done the rice in microwave)...pressure cooked chopped chicken thighs, mushrooms, peppers, onions.leeks, baby sweetcorn, boiled water and 2 chicken oxo cubes...drained it and added to the cooked rice...lovely dinner made with sad looking end of fridge veggies.only took around 20mins too.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -

would cooking it at MAX but for less time help?,mine took 30mins cooked at 12psi,maybe at 15psi it should be less time?..anything in your instruction manual?Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

Update re above,I did indeed invest in the kuhn rikon pressure cooker and it is every bit as good as reviews say it is,my prestige one is ideal for veggies/potatoes etc as planned. Its great having the complete meal ready at the same time especialy as i try and cook before work several times a week.
The prestige is a good PC(but only operates at 12psi),so for me ,one of each is ideal, but for anyone only planning on buying 1 PC,then definately invest in the Kuhn Rikon one..it is more powerful, but a lot simpler to operate and clean.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

I have been thinking about buying a PC but unsure as I have solid rings on my electric cooker that take forever to heat up (and cool down), so I don't think it would be that fuel efficient (compared to appliances that don't use the hob such as slow cookers).
Does anyone have experience of using a PC on a solid ring type of hob?0 -

I personally don't but I remember my mum having one years ago on one of the old-style curly ring type cookers (I have no idea what they're called but you know the type) and my mum in law used to have one on a ceramic hob.0 -
There are guidelines somewhere about using electric rings..it involves turning the heat off earlier to allow the ring to cool down whilst still cooking, then transfering to another ring on a cooler setting...or something like that...i also read they are more fuel efficient on elelctric as some of the cooking can be done even after the ring has been turned off...maybe try "googling"..pressure cookers on electric rings ?Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

I am always running out of time with cooking.., and more often than I like have to serve up rubbish rather than healthier food cause it takes longer to cook, so been looking at buying a pressure cooker. I have an ancient Tower Pressure cooker, so old I don't know what model it is and the gasket is very stiff so time for a new one. Spent all day reading reviews for Prestige and Tower models and wasn't impressed by the quality of manufacture etc. Didn't really want to spend a fortune on a pressure cooker, but had to bite the bullet. Hopefully will save money in the long run. I used http://www.gwdoling.co.uk/Cookware_D.asp?Submit=Back&grpnum=119&stockcode=220201
Which means I purchased a Kuhn Rikon Pressure Cooker Duromatic 7 litre & 2 Bowls/baskets for 113.98 (so not having to pay separately for the vegetable baskets, ordering them as part of the order was £9 extra I think). The 7 litre pressure cooker has a long handle rather than two short handles, which I'd have preferred as I have one weak wrist which tends to give way when I pick up heavy things but they only had the two short handled cookers available on the 6 litre Duromatic. As I want to do sponge puddings amongst other things (plus bulk making of soups), I thought I'd be better off with the 7 litre. Will just have to be very careful.
So here's hoping its a good one lol.0 -
I just bought a Jamie Oliver Tefal Multicooker!!!
It's a plug in Pressure cooker, that simmers and Sautes and keeps warm...!
Cost only £10 more the kuhn rikon.... and I got it from Lakeland too!!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
For anyone new to pressure cooking, this might be useful (didn't even know what an ohsawa pot was an hour ago lol - means u can cook rice to perfection in a pressure cooker but still have to find a stockist in the uk).
