I desperately want to win...

I'd be happy to win anything at the moment, as December and January have been pretty dismal for me, regarding wins!
My favourite wins are vouchers, as we are skint and don't have extras for treats at the minute. I've had £100 in M&S twice, £50 in Amazon and £100 in Get the Label, in the past. My favourite vouchers are M&S, as we use them to buy luxury food and vegan wine to wash it down with! And this frees up money which we would have had to do our weekly shop with, so we can buy treats.0 -
A kindle/E reader, wanted one for ages! won quite a few books though which I have enjoyed (overflowing bookcase as it is) and vouchers (for amazon, clothing ect)
saying that I've won things I didn't know I wanted until they turned up, like a designer handbag and purse! I gave the one I won last year to my mum to cheer her up, but I seem to have developed a taste for luxury goodsnot very money saving! but hoping I may be able to win another or win enough food and loo roll so I can free up the cash:rotfl:

I used to blanket enter everything and then realise that took so much time especially when I won completely random things that I ended up giving to the charity shop.
I have now decided to just enter things that I need or that would save me money, vouchers etc, for example today I won a 3 month Sky Movies pass, saving me money on films I want to see or things that I know would be of use to friends or family so there's a lot of things I want to win but nothing I am desperate for but I enjoy the possibility I could win0 -
I won a £10,000 wedding in 2014 (not on mse) & £5000 last year thanks to the lovely people who post on here, I won the cash two months before I was getting married so it came in so useful for the extras that I really wanted but couldn't afford & it paid for our honeymoon!
I only ever enter for things I really want or could be used as presents, I also enter for kids toys so that if I ever won I could donate to charity.
My ambition this year is to become a multi millionaire & buy my dream home... Wish me luck x0 -
A built-under single electric oven (see signature) Belling, Tricity, AEG, any good make or £500 would cover it. Even Wickes vouchers . I'll happily devote an entire blog post to my next win over £50.0

Sorry if this puts a downer on this thread, but personally I am not desperate to win anything!!
There are loads of things I try to win/would love to win
If I did not have a washer/cooker/bed and I had to depend on winning them on competitions then I would have dirty clothes/starve/sleep on the floor.
There is a huge difference between what we would like and what we actually need!!

Being desperate to win something doesn't mean you need to be starving, dirty and sleeping on the floor.
One definition for desperate is 'in great need of'. Therefore, with this definition in mind, your comments are to some extent relevant.
However, another definition of its meaning is that you greatly desire something. Yes a holiday may be a luxury but it doesn't mean that you can't greatly desire it.0 -

I think the top and bottom of my post was meant to mean if you are "in great need of" "desperate" for an essential item, then comping is probably not the best way of going about getting the item.
If my washer broke down tomorrow and I needed to win one to get another I would probably be waiting a LONG time“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

I feel the same - I am not desperate to win anything so whatever I win is bonus or luxury to me :j:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I read desperate in this case as just really wanting to win something, rather being so desperate you're entering instead of just buying it yourself. I wouldn't rely on comping for something I desperately needed because, as you said mansey, I would be waiting a long time!0
