Is it too late to do the criteria transferring for January?

I just realised today that i'd forgotten to meet the criteria on various accounts for January's bonus payment (example: Nationwide Flexdirect needing £1000 in the calendar month to receive interest, Halifax needing £750 for the £5 etc).

So i made a start this morning but on the online statement (i began with Halifax) transfers made today are stamped up 1st Feb.

So do they go off when they're made (such as today - & therefore i'd still get the bonuses) or do they go off when they're stamped (1st Feb - & therefore i miss out on January?)

Thanks.

I'd guess that if you transfer money into your account and it goes in today you will be fine, but I could be wrong.

It's been posted before on here (by Ed-1 in particular) that for LBG accounts, so long as you deposit within the monthly billing period (so that's up until close of business tomorrow night) you'll get the interest/Rewards paid early hours of Tuesday this coming week.

I haven't tried it myself, as I prefer to use SOs wherever possible and make all my manual transfers on payday. It's a good method/routine to get into! ;)

Please do come back Tuesday, or soon after, and let us know what the outcome is.

I think you'll find that the aforementioned LBG monthly billing period runs until the end of the first working day of the month...which is tomorrow night. ;)
  • Care to elaborate on what LBG is?

I'll do the transferring & see what happens.

When is 'close of business' though? What time is that?

Lloyds Banking Group, so Lloyds, Bank of Scotland, and Halifax. TSB still run on the same ex-Lloyds systems I believe.

I believe it's late evening. The exact time used to depend on what day it was...for example, Friday was always a couple of hours later than Mon-Thurs.

But it doesn't matter anyway, since you're sending the money now (aren't you?) with potentially tomorrow's statement date, which is still within the monthly billing period.

You probably don't have any accounts with Lloyds, Bank of Scotland, or Halifax. If you did you'd know.

Close of business is usually regarded as 5pm.

It may have been back in the dim and distant...but not these days. ;)

You'd be surprised at the lengths some people (not myself I hasten to add) will go to in order to ascertain the EXACT cut-off times for certain banks.
