Plantar fasciitis anyone?

I have PF along with a number of colleagues (teachers). The only insoles I found beneficial were quite solid, half a sole length from boots and seem to have been discontinued! My best exercise is standing on the bottom step with my heels hanging over the edge and dropping them down and back up again.
I also have TFL in my hip (both left sided, dancing injury) which has added to the problem!0 -

Welcome, hope it help you. I should also mention i added in another exercise for balance / strength myself as part of this routine. I clean each side of my top teeth at the back for 30secs (1min total) on one leg, swap legs and clan the bottom backs again 30secs each side. Then I stand on tip-toes while cleaning the fronts of my teeth again for a minute. Once i finished doing tip toes i rock from tip toes to completely on ball and back to relax them.0 -
I also suffered from this a few years ago and had for nearly 2 years. Its so painful.
I had a few injections, and a boot to wear in bed that stretched the foot. They also tried plastering my foot right up to my knee and had it on for 2 weeks. Also Physio, but still after all of the above I still had pain and inflammation.
Eventually I was sent to the Orthotic dept at the hospital and they made me rigid insoles for my shoes, they scanned my feet to make the insoles and after wearing them the pain eventually went away.
I also wear Fit Flops and think they are really good.
I am sorry you are having so much trouble with this and understand how painful and horrible it is.

As an ex-sufferer, I know full well how painful this complaint can be. I no longer have any pain, the plantar just gradually improved and went away. Having said that, I did apply DMSO (which is used by athletes and also by racehorse trainers for their mounts) and employed 'earthing' (see below) which did relieve the inflammation to some extent. Here is a link to a site which deals with plantar in depth. Lots of helpful information on here. http://heelspurs.com/_intro.html
Another avenue to explore is earthing, or grounding, a protocol used by cyclists in the Tour de France. You can download (free) a copy of Dr. Clint Ober's book on the subject here http://mercola.fileburst.com/PDF/EarthingBook.pdf
I have been using this for some years, now, and it has really helped me.

I used to have PF - I got a referral for 6 sessions of Ultrasound which really helped. I also threw away many of my unsupportive shoes. I had gait analysis and bought some heat moulded insoles as I was doing the Moonwalk and I now live in this combo in the winter - am on my 3rd pair of Brooks and 2nd set of moulded insoles. In the summer I wear Mephisto walking sandals (like Birkenstocks). I take a size 9 and often wore men's shoes which were not a great fit because it was all I could find. Now there is a lot more choice out there for my size thankfully but only for occasional wear - the trainers are for every day.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I was reading up on it last night and thought it'd be worth a try but thought I'd see if anyone had an views on it either wayI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. I had pf for 20 something months a few years ago. It was the second time I'd had it. I tried everything and eventually gave up running. I went to bed in a boot which would help a bit but not enough, then it would resurface.
I read (on here I think) about taking turmeric and glycosamine supplements and did this and it went! Don't know if it was the supplements or if it just healed by its self but it was such a relief.
I also started wearing birkinstock clogs as slippers and still wear these now a good few years later.0 -
I'm convinced my company supplied safety shoes caused mine, or at least didn't help. I switched back to my old trusty redwood (now delta) safety shoes, and the pain has subsided, and no need for supports.0
