three Feel at home, PAYG

Options
Just wondering how to do this, and if there's anything I need to know.

I vaguely heard that you have to have been a customer for 1 month before going abroad.

Three's own site just says
If you're on Pay As You Go, all you need to do to fully enjoy Feel At Home is convert your credit into an Add-On. You can then use the allowance in any Feel At Home destination. If you don't convert your credit into an Add-on you'll still benefit from lower roaming rates in our Feel At Home destinations.

Can someone tell me how that works? I can't seem to find any more info on that addon part at all?

I just want to get a PAYG sim, and stick it in a spare phone to take abroad and make sure that I can call back, and use data for maps etc

You just buy an add on when you leave, for example the all in one 10 or all in one 20 and the allowance can then be used abroad (data has a smaller limit, used to be 25GB rather than AYCE, but has been cut to something like 12GB iirc).
If you have all-you-can-eat data you can use up to 12GB. If you have all-you-can-eat texts you can send up to 5,000 texts. If you have 3,000 or more minutes included in your allowance you can use up to 3,000 minutes.

    Edit:
top hit of a Google search for Three PAYG add on is http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Pay_As_You_Go/How_add_ons_work which has a list of all available add-ons.

1 month is contract, payg does not have such restriction.
