Way to go! All that fried chicken has perhaps made you come across as something of an !!!!!. Did you mean the insult?0 -

Strange.... I was replying to your earlier post that Nationwide apparently told youKernel_Sanders wrote: »
'they couldn't set it up because 07-00-93 doesn't exist,' but then decided to insert the word 'online' to make it clear Nationwide couldn't set it up, err, online.
when clearly, from the link to Nationwide website, which I provided, that sort code DOES exist
I was trying to help:cool:0 -
If you are talking about 'over the heads of the less educated' then no, that wouldn't apply to him because I think his request for clarification stemmed from not reading the OP properly rather than any lack of ability to comprehend an unambiguous and reasonably composed OP. As he's been campaigning recently to get people to read the T & Cs properly before posting, I decided to have what I thought was a friendly dig at him for not doing so with my OP, which has backfired drastically:doh:Way to go! I think he also lacked knowledge about the NW Monthly Saver, which didn't help.
OK well, I'll also spend a bit of time helping you increase your own knowledge. Your unfamiliarity with the NW Monthly Saver leads me to suspect that NW never actually offered it to their own/new members. I acquired mine by virtue of a transferred Derbyshire BS account of the same name, which NW maintained at 3% for several months before cutting it back to 2.5%. My mother has the same NW account but hers came from a Cheshire BS regular saver. Both were £500 pm max and (I think) perpetual before the stricken societies were absorbed, which NW also maintained. The only difference is that her conversion appeared automatically on her NW internet banking console whereas mine did not.YorkshireBoy wrote: »My seeking of clarification was an attempt to try and help. Indeed, I did spend some time researching the Nationwide site for the specific account you mentioned in order to try and offer some help.Strange

Nobody is disputing that, except perhaps NW's software which produced the message which prompted the thread. I thought people knew that, which is why I misunderstood your post, Badger. All types of external payment into 070093 are valid.
Your first paragraph turned out to be correct but she didn't need the sort code and 8 digit account no., only the 1234/123456789 reference. It doesn't actually tell you that you only need this unless you click a box about number formats.Having just logged in to my own NW FD account to check it out, it could be that she needs to select "Another Nationwide Account" rather than the usual "A new person or organisation", then follow this instruction...
"If you have a sort code and account number then these should be entered in the Nationwide account number field. Enter the sort code and the 8 digit account number separated by a space or a /."0
