Nationwide state their own sort code doesn't exist

I missed my January payment at the branch today into my Nationwide Monthly Saver book, so rang my mother and asked her to transfer £500 from her Nationwide FD into it (I don't have a Nationwide current account). This was because I'm not sure whether an external payment (e.g. from Santander) would register as being paid this month. She says that they couldn't set it up online because 07-00-93 doesn't exist! Is it feasible that this could happen? I made a payment to this sort code from Santander in December.

I may be wrong, but I thought payments into the NW monthly saver had to come from your own current account. Could it be some restriction as a result of this?
Edit: can't seem to find anything in the T&Cs that state this, so could have imagined it!0 -
Super-quick reply!
You'll have YB telling us to read the T & Cs now
I don't think so because you can pay in through the account's passbook.0 -
Having just logged in to my own NW FD account to check it out, it could be that she needs to select "Another Nationwide Account" rather than the usual "A new person or organisation", then follow this instruction...
"If you have a sort code and account number then these should be entered in the Nationwide account number field. Enter the sort code and the 8 digit account number separated by a space or a /."0 -

To be clear, you've said "Monthly Saver book" and then go on to say "£500". Is this a FlexClusive Regular Saver in your mother's name but with your money feeding it?
You then go on to say you asked "her" to set up the payment online. Further, you say "they" couldn't set it up online. So did she ring Nationwide and ask them to set the payment up for her?0 -
As well as the sort code and account number you need the branch number to pay into a passbook account.
ie 070093 1234/123456789
Your full account number, including your 4 digit branch prefix, is printed on the inside cover of your passbook.0 -
All types of external payment into 070093 are valid.

Such as the Flexclusive Regular Saver, which doesn't come with a passbook.
I also used the word 'my' to make it clear it wasn't someone else's account.
Such as my mother's.

In case this was over the heads of the less educated, I also implied that it came with a passbook. This ensured that nobody would confuse it with another of their regular savers.

No, she tried to set it up online. I originally typed 'they couldn't set it up because 07-00-93 doesn't exist,' but then decided to insert the word 'online' to make it clear Nationwide couldn't set it up, err, online.

From Nationwide website, third box down.

I've just had a go at this on my Nationwide account and it appears to accept this sort code with no problem. Set up a new payee to sort code 07 00 93, a/c no. 33333334 and put the full a/c no in the reference, e.g. 1234/123456789.0
