ive got a Mobius in the front and the rear, they are great. However last time I tried the motion detection on them it didn't work very well, this maybe addressed in future firmware though

For regular driving though, i'd happily recommend and as mentioned above, you're best off with a SD card reader, rather than connecting the camera to the pc via usb.

Thanks, I do not leave my cam on view when my car is not being used, it would probably get stolen.

It is very fiddly to removed the micro card without disturbing the position of the cam. It is not easy to remove it from the cam when removed from holder.

I tried the Nextbase 402G yesterday and it was great. I have not tried all the functions yet. Fingers crossed!

I use an SJ4000 (Go-Pro alike), cost me £45, runs on battery for 1.5 hours. I take it out after each journey, I delete old footage and recharge it, then put in back in the car when I go out.

All this stuff with dashcams that are hard wired and turn on/off automatically etc......... Seriously? what's the point? They cost a fortune and ultimately do exactly the same job.

I have exact same but have it running from the power socket and use the car mode on cam to it starts recording when its switched on

    works very well

  • I was looking at, this one.

It's the one Techmoan is currently using.

Nice and unobtrusive, not too expensive (in fact about the same price as Strider590's SJ4000 ;)).

I don't want the faff of taking one in and out of the car every time, I just want to fit and forget.

From 'Product safety' on Amazon's page for this item:
"Warning: Protective equipment should be worn. Not to be used in traffic"
    Interesting concept.;)

    Just resurrecting this thread.

I have been looking at buying a dash cam and am appalled at how many reliability problems owners experience.

There is no question that, when working properly, they produce superb videos, and there are loads of owner's reviews that confirm that conclusion - but most of these reviews are from delighted owners who bought a few weeks ago. Techmoan's reviews are excellent, but only tests for a few weeks.

However there are loads of 1* reviews on Amazon etc, even by new owners, of faults or design defects.

I can do without the 'bells and whistles' if only I could get a reliable dash cam.
