You can get third party insurance from the Dogs Trust for £25 a year ( or £12.50 if you are over 60). https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/get-involved/membership/0

You may not be buying it. Nevertheless, it all happens to be true and easily verifiable. You are at liberty to never use a vets, never insure any pet, and make that choice. But if you look at any country without an NHS, then you will see the true prices of treatment and drugs. And the number of people who cannot afford it. What makes you think dogs or other pets are cheaper? Not buying any of that. ^^^ Same with dentists. Rip off merchants who have you by the short and curlies.0 -
just out of interest here is the breakdown from one vet practice of where the fees go.
Veterinary practices are expensive places to run. Our practices employ 50 people over four sites of which there are 20 vets on a part or full-time basis. For every £1 of fees that are generated, 35p goes on wages, 20p on medicines, about 20p goes on tax, 20p on training & education, maintaining our premises, equipment leasing, rent, rates and finally about 5p is left for reinvesting in the practice and profit for the owners.
We invest heavily in our practice, because this is our vocation and our life as well as our business.0
