We've just had our kitchen fitted from Howdens and was under £6k. That's including white gloss integrated handle units, Silestone quartz worktop/upstands and Neff appliances.
16 units at about £1,700.0 -
Just to give you a comparison we had a new kitchen with cream handleless gloss units as follows:
17 Units with appliances (Bosch and AEG), sink and taps - £6500
Granite worktop (7m length) with cooker splashback, upstands and fitting - £2800
Fitting - this was complicated as we moved the kitchen to a different room so there was loads of plumbing and electrical work to do as well as making good in two rooms instead of one - £5000
I do think you're looking in the wrong place though. Find yourself a decent kitchen fitter and take their advice on where to source the units. Alternatively the sheds such as Wickes of Wren can be driven right down in price, especially if you keep going in for a long period. As for appliances I'd check out the internet places like AO.0 -
brenda 10, I'm afraid I'm much further North than you so my tradesmen would be no use. Have you had any recommendations through friends? The plumber I used, has been used by my family for years, the plasterer is the brother of a colleague and the electrician is a friend (no mates rates though). Or maybe sole traders/ small business' ?0

I should also point out that I was fortunate that the walls and ceiling just needed skimming as that reduced the cost. Also the plumber only disconnected a gas cooker and removed a radiator. The electrician changed sockets, wired in extractor fan and put 2 new sockets in.0

I note someone advised don't get the appliances from the kitchen company,we found the best price for our Siemens appliances was from the kitchen supplier who gave us his 20% dealer discount.
+ 1 for this.
We got a far better deal on Neff appliances via the independent kitchen co than the best price from AO.0 -
Thanks bellaboo, actually got work done with trust a trader in the past with good reviews, they sublet work to someone(not in trust a trader) to do plumbing, !!!!!gas leak and gas off for a week, !!!!!!flooded bathroom floor, kitchen roof...... disaster. Nervous about getting another cowboy in!
Thanks for your help.

That's the reason I walked out or Wrens. That was. The final nail after their "designer" said he could not see me at the weekend as he was on the floor selling. !!!!!!?!leveller2911 wrote: »The minute they dropped their quote by £2,500 would be the moment I walked out or pointed to the door.0

Hi Folks
Not sure if anyone can help me with this on here. I was given a quote by Wren living for my kitchen which was further discounted by the store manger towards the end of their sale. He advised me that the Installation charges included all of the items I had selected which included units, 5 x appliances and granite and wood worksurfaces. His personal letter with his offer stated 'without changing anything from the selection you made, the new price is....' I spoke with him and he assured me the only additional cost I had was £60 for a cirucuit test payable to the fitters. I paid 10% deposit based on this as I was happy with the quote. I went into the store and added two other units to the plan to finalise the order and I removed their granite which comes with considerable fitting costs, the sink and the tap, as I had found it cheaper/better elsewhere. I was told yesterday having paid my 10% deposit 3 days before that they had not updated the Installation costs on the computer as they had built the plan with me and that it was now an additional £1600 on what I had been quoted and had paid the deposit on! Can they legally do this. I thought by being given a quote and paying a deposit on this that it was binding.
Any advice would be welcome.
Many thanks:mad:0 -

The consensus on this Forum is, in general, to avoid Wren because of bad customer support and general sharp practice. Hence when placing an order with Wren you are playing with fire. As such you are likely to get burnt.
My intuition is you have tried sharp practice on Wren and are unhappy because they have, so far, out flanked you.
You have a quotation which like any quotation will be valid for a certain period. This might have been for one day to finalise your order. However you have gone back and changed the terms by adding and deleting items. You have cherry picked what you deem the expensive items and deleted these.
This raises two questions. First who will be fitting your new granite worktops, sink, taps, waste, plumbing and so on and where do you stand on tieing in trades, their responsibilities, any damage to items, liabilities and guarantees? Second you have changed the terms of your original quotation so this is no longer valid. Hence a new quotation is appropriate. You are complaining that you do not like this quotation, but it is a situation you have brought upon yourself.
It is probable that Wren not updating items on their system is nonsense, and even if true, that is their problem. Equally you are not sqeeky clean and innocent over all this!
I suggest you sweet talk Wren and see if you can get back your deposit and start again.
Hope this helps.0 -
If you're fairly handy you can save a fortune! get the units from diy-kitchens.co.uk and fit them yourself and you can halve the costs....0
