BT broadband- am I a new customer?

So my partner and I have BT broadband package in our current house. I also have a BT mobile SIM only plan. The broadband is in partners name.

We are moving house and need to decide what's best regarding moving BT service with us or going elsewhere as there's loads of deals for new customers.

We were thinking of leaving BT (which is in partners name) when we move, and when we are in our new place to sign up to BT as a new customer with it in my name. However what I am unsure of is whether I am considered a new customer, as I have BT mobile? Or is it just referring to new broadband/package customer?

Yes you will be seen as a new customer to broadband so you will get all the benefits of a new customer.

Bear in mind BT charge £31.00 to cancel broadband or £5.50 to cancel BT Infinity even if you are no longer in your minimum term. As you are moving you will have to pay one or the other if you do not move your services plus rental charges for the 30 days notice.

Probably best to speak to BT retentions team first to see if they can offer you a deal.

Regarding the whole moving thing I do know all the ins and outs and fees for leaving early. We tried to see what they would offer us instead of leaving and turns out they want us to leave lol No offer at all even with partner telling them what we could get elsewhere, they just let us leave lol
