Tax credits and partner moving in

But surely if you close your claim because you don't need tax credits anymore then they won't know that your partner has moved in with you let alone what he/she earned in the previous tax year.

They would only find out if you made a joint claim and, like you said, you won't be doing that.

True in part.

You can't just close a tax credit claim. You have to tell them why. So she will report that she is closing her claim because she's moved in with a partner.

They will then ask if she wants to make a joint claim which she won't so they will not need any of his details.
