My desktop is currently running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64bit and i think its time to upgrade to 7.
However, there is years worth of settings, installed programs (some paid for, some not:)) and i have the pc runninb the way i like it. Will Microsoft Office still work? I rely on Word and Outlook.
Will a new OS flatten everything? Or will an upgrade move everything over too?
Lastly, any links to the best place to buy the upgrade software?
Ta!

in order to proceed further up the Microsoft ladder you cannot "upgrade" vista , you must do a clean install of a later system
office will still work on a later OS , other programmes , who knows if they will be compatable?Save a Rachael

Make and Model of PC ?
Version of Office ? (Win 7 doesn't run Office 2000 without problems)
Whichever OS you upgrade to - I would advise a "clean install" rather than an upgrade - so back up all of your data and ensure that you have all of your installation CD/DVD's for programs !
Why not consider / Try Openoffice for Office and Thunderbird for Outlook ?0 -
It's Office 2010

how can you upgrade vista?
there is NO upgrade path from vista
OP , you need to buy a licence for win 7 or win 8 and do a clean install , maybe buying a fast SSD drive at the same time (£35) and keeping your files/data on the old and retrieving as and when neededSave a Rachael

Of course there is a straight forward upgrade path from Vista to Win 7

There is no straight forward upgrade path from Vista to Win 10 (although, apparently it can be done)0 -
