Virgin media Line rental saver misinterpretation

Options
In December I paid the £164 Virgin media Line rental saver (LRS) to cover 12 months as recommended by MSE. NB. This figure has now increased. However the subsequent bills did not give me confidence that pay payment had been applied appropriately, it looked as if it had been recorded as just a big payment.

I just phoned VM to query this and my suspicions were confirmed. Apparently this misinterpretation has applied to many other customers too. I suggested that the management could run a simple report to identify anyone who had paid exactly £164, an unusual amount, but not credited with LRS.

By paying the difference my 12 month LSR has now been acknowledged as commencing from today from today.

Hope this is useful to others.

Robert

I paid that in November in advance of my Virgin Media being installed. My Jan and Feb bills were as expected. I only paid the TV, broadband and calls which were due. Prices on Virgin have gone up this month.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Same happened to me.

Ordered broadband and line rental in mid-June online on a 12 month contract. Installation date 1st July. Phoned VM a week prior to installation and paid £164 for Line Rental Saver (LRS).

I still got charged £17.99 line rental in July and August via direct debit. Phoned VM in September about this and they apologised saying £164 payment was mistakenly applied as a credit to my account instead of being applied to LRS!

I requested they retrospectively apply the £164 from July 1st (installation date) which they agreed to do but they haven't done so. They have applied the LRS from September instead, the date I phoned about their error. Also got some weird £10 late payment charge a month later which makes no sense to me whatsoever as I have a DD set up.

I can no longer be @rsed phoning them again. Shall wait until the beginning of June and phone up to cancel my contract with them, citing all their errors and overcharges on my account as the reason.
