Halogen Heating Instead of Storage Heaters

How do you know your 'bill is almost cut in half for heating'? If you still have E7 metering installed, then, unless you are nocturnal, all your halogen heating will be done on E7 peak rate, along with most of your other energy usage, so how can you tell what is used on heating and what is on other usage?
By contrast, the vast majority of your cheap rate consumption will either be on the old NSH's or on overnight water heating via an immersion heater, so easily mesasured.
I'm sceptical of your claim without some actual data to support it-and that means some kWh figures, not ££'s less on your bill.
You mention an E7 rate of 10p, but for your method to make any sense, you'd need to switch tariff and meter to non-E7-have you actually done this? Because E7 peak rate, which will apply until about midnight to 7am, is typically around 15p, not 10p, on Standard tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
