im suspicous of corporate stores like PC World but the prices seem competitive for pcs and laptops(but not accessories £15 for usb cable!)
Are there cheaper and better places to buy a pc from -or does their corporate muscle ensure a good deal?
Staff arn't the best imho though

I've always used my local small dealer to build mine.i get great free advice, excellent, very, very quick repairs compared to Dell or PC World so I've heard.
Plenty of space to update, but be warned some small dealers can bull as much as the big boys.

The fact that you needed to get them repaired is not really a good advert for using a small local firm!

I've used https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk for two machines now.
Very reasonably priced and an 0845 helpline if you need it.
    I'd happily use them again.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!

Thats what this forum is for ;)

Depending on how much you are looking to spend, it can be cheaper to buy the components separately and build it yourself. You don't need to be an expert in it, though it does help.

Otherwise, as mentioned before, Dell are probably the best. I've found that smaller PC stores are often much more expensive than websites and PCworld, since they don't have the economies of scale, they have to have high prices to make profit. They are great for tech support though.
