want to change from O2 to giffgaff

Sorry, I have a really basic question (I'm not very up on mobile phones!) I have a giffgaff sim card here and I want to change from O2 PAYG (my current provider) to giffgaff goodybag.
Can someone talk me through basically what I need to do. Do I need to get my phone unlocked first (It's a Nokia 2630) and then get the PAC code from O2?
I''m guessing it would be the same if I were to buy a new Nokia phone, as the cheaper ones tend to be locked to a provider.
Thanks in advance!

Even if the phone is locked to O2, it will work on giffgaff, but it's worth ulocking it anyway.

Before paying £15 make sure first that it is locked and that you can't do it cheaper elsewhere.
To port your number you get a PAC from O2 and pass it to giffgaff. It lasts for 30 days.0
