Nothing to declare

On Wednesday I will be flying to Amsterdam to purchase a years supply of tobacco (80 pouches).
My question is when coming through customs do I go through the nothing to declare barrier or would I declare it and explain it's for my own use?
Thanks.

Thanks for the link Stevie but that appears to say that I have noting to declare as I am coming from an eu country.0 -

OK well read that bit instead.
Looks less dodgy if you own up to having it in the first place.....0 -
I've got no idea about the weight of tobacco pouches but if your 80 pouches weigh more than 1kg and you are stopped when going through the blue channel i.e. arrivals from EU the link says they will be more likely to question you.
The link says you should use the red channel if you have over your duty free allowance.
That doesn't apply to you as you are returning from an EU country which (allegedly) has no limits.
As I believe they x-ray bags, they may be aware what you are carrying and could be ready to stop you as you head through the blue channel.
If it were me, I'd go through the blue channel but be ready to be stopped and questioned.0 -
As long as the goods are for your own personal consumption then you head through the blue exit not the green channel.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Thanks peeps.
I am fully expecting to be questioned just wasn't sure which was the legal channel to use.0 -
I've brought back 100 pouches before and never been stopped
if you was stopped & as long as you stand your ground and say for personal consumption you will be ok , say you smoke 1-2 pouches a week and you will be fine theres nothing they can do"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
The likelihood of your cases being scanned on arrival into the UK, from Schipol, which is in the EU, is slight, so therefore, they wont know what is in your cases.
They usually only scan cases when coming from the likes of the Canaries, Turkey, etc, as they are classed as outside the EU for customs duty etc.
I bring 16 cartons back regularly from Mallorca, Alicante and never have an issue. When I fly in from the Canaries, I put 1 carton in the suitcase and maybe 8 cartons in my hand luggage. I know my case will be x rayed at Manchester/Liverpool, but my hand luggage wont be on arrival.
The Departing airport are not really bothered if you have excess tobacco in your case.0 -
Don't customs take more of an interest in those coming back from Amsterdam generally0

They are professionals, their interest depends on various factors. . .gettingtheresometime wrote: »Don't customs take more of an interest in those coming back from Amsterdam generallyEvolution, not revolution0
