Hope the buyers agree and that all goes smoothly from now on — good luck!Rainy day fund — 210/1000 Emergency fund — 1019/1500
Loan — 424/19,224 = 2.2% Fun fund: 1/100 Credit card balance — 00 -
they've agreed to push back completion (which suits us) but will only "meet in the middle" and move by 2500. Thing is: that's not meeting in the middle. It was undervalued by 10 and we've offered to take a drop of 5 which is the middle. We've stood firm on this so will see what today brings.
Just sick of people screwing money out of me. In the end, to extend the leasehold with all the costs cost me 48k. That is due to complete on 10 Feb and is money I won't see back for a while and money we obv won't have towards the house. It was the sensible thing to do (and wish I'd done it sooner) as the lease premium would only have increased every day and I now have 151 years which means I won't need to renew it again in my lifetime but it still grates.
Have 3rd viewing on property we love today. We are concerned at what we are getting for our money as it lacks the extra bedroom/reception and storage isn't very good but we could move in and not have to do anything and it has a lovely rural outlook and is very private (both of which we are realising are quite important to us).
Did no work yesterday because of the whole house thing - really need to get focused today.
Wont be a NSD - we have fish in freezer but had fish last night so the boy would like something different - need milk also - shouldn't be too much though.I want to be a writer0 -
so, apparently the boy got the wrong end of the stick and they had not agreed to "meet in the middle" at all. they stuck to what it had been valued at and we reluctantly had to accept.
Pretty fed upI want to be a writer0 -
need to get over my annoyance. It will only eat me up. Went back for third viewing on house we love yesterday and realised there is a bit more storage than we thought so that's good. Still loved it, you can hear a pin drop! And the rural view is amazing. Went to see another house which was 65k cheaper and had an extra bedroom. Was lovely but terraced whereas the other is detached (not that anything wrong with terraced but we do like privacy) and was on a road where people do walk home drunk quite a bit. Actually we could hear people outside from the master bedroom. The outlook wasn't rural at all and was over garages/town and the parking wasn't great. Kind of crystallised what's important to us and think we would rather have a smaller house (the second one was 300 sq ft more than the one we love) and more privay/ruralness.
So we made an increased offer on the one we love! They've not come back yet but are themselves having a second viewing on a property they love today so fingers crossed!
ended up spending 7.23/2 yesterday as we didn't fancy fish again. We were going to go out as we wee so miserable but decided we had better not given we have just lost 10K!!! So got some food to cook. It's not actually 10 since given we have now pushed completion back we won't have an early repayment fee of 2500 or lose our capital repayments in rent (2 months at 915) and won't have to pay storage etc so it actually comes out around a loss of 4. Still a bitter pill to swallow and the boy is more annoyed than me that we didn't hold out but I kinda think that 4 for the sake of certainty and getting on with the next stage of our lives (the boy doesn't want to start trying for baby until we are in new house cos of stress on me - which this week has been majorly!!) has quite a large value.
Will have to spend a bit today as the boy has burnt our squash for salad lunches (that's twice this week - he puts it in oven and forgets!!) but shouldn't be too much and we need shampoo also so will get that.
Pilates tonight though it's pre-paid and will get us meals out of freezer - boy is at band practice then we have to pack for our weekend away!I want to be a writer0 -
so, the people are considering our offer! They have viewed one they love this afternoon for the second time but are talking further about it tonight as there is no parking and they want to see if they can get some off that. If they can, the estate agent thinks they will accept our offer!
Worked really hard today and was focused and it felt quite good.
Wasn't a NSD. Needed lunch due to the above so got a sandwich, bought us pastries for tomorrow am as we are up at 445! Then a pizza for when we get back on sunday and no doubt can't be bothered to go to shops. Came to about £10. Then got us shampoo and conditioner, was on offer - all at £3.50 plus buy 2 get one free so a total of £7/2.
Had got some stuff out of freezer for us and went to pilates planning on eating it when got home but the boy messaged me to say it was off so he had got some chicken burgers - yum, I love those!!! So one is cooking in oven now.
Had to get petrol and bought us some maltesers so that was £21.38/2.
We are away tomorrow for weekend - should be fab though not looking forward to the stupid early start!!!I want to be a writer0 -
Enjoy your time away. Hope you get the good news you want on the offer. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

weekend away was good but EXPENSIVE.
Back to reality now but this week will be spending as we haven't had chance to go to supermarket which means buying lunches. I had lunch with an old college yesterday anyway which was £14. Today we will have to grab a sarnie as we have another viewing at lunch.
People haven't accepted our offer yet as they are still looking, but they had another viewing last night and also put an offer in on something yesterday or over the weekend so it seems positive at least.
Work is just work. Not loving it but its not as bad as before. And I can't not work (sadly) so I just have to get on with it!!I want to be a writer0 -
THEY'VE ACCEPTED OUR OFFER!!!!
WOO BLOODY HOO!!!!!
Agent rang as we were on way to view another property at lunch asking if there was "any more in the pot" as they had been negotiating on a house and couldn't get it as cheap as they wanted. Vendor was looking for 10k more. I said we'd have to call her back as we were on a way to view another property. She said she'd tell the vendor that!
Saw the other property and liked it but tiny garden and fairly overlooked though 75k cheaper than the offer we'd put in on the other one so say 100k cheaper.
Rang back and said was no more as we have lost 10 on our sale. Couple of nail biting hours later and it's been accepted!
OMFG, now I'm excited but SCARED, our mortgage payments effectively double and bills will increase too. But I guess this is what happens when you need to move bigger. I worry about money constantly though!!!!
So, today is a good day. I had suggested going out for dinner but then we sensibly said we had been away at the weekend and we have a pizza in the freezer so should just have that.I want to be a writer0 -
oh, and another thing: 530pm today was exactly 1 year since I left my stressful job. Absolutely no regrets!!!!I want to be a writer0
