Blowing an absolute hoolie here - I'm glad the Princesses brought their little coats with them. They didn't want to stay out for long this morning; but they still had to have a walk. Of course, they can request a "comfort break" in the garden any time, but they get taken out for a proper walk once a day to exercise their little legs.;)

  • Oh I can't be left out - Happy Birthday to the Zebra child! Childhood years seem to fly by so fast, it's frightening. My DGDs are now 11, 7 and 5 and it only seems like yesterday that they were born.

I'm another cat lover, with a husband who isn't!! Although when we first got married my cat came with me and he tolerated her quite well! Since then we have had various short term cats, a stray who stayed for a while and two who came home, at different times, with DS and DD when they came back to live here for while. The dogs (border collies) wanted to round them up and play with them but, sadly, the cats weren't up for it and didn't the poor dogs know about it!

Gertrude still doing her best out here but I think she might be running out of steam a bit now. Hope you didn't have any damage GERS, you've had enough mess to clear up this last day or two.

Have a nice evening folks xx

I left the house a little before 2p.m. to catch the shuttle bus so I could fill a prescription at the chemist on the other side.

I got back shattered at 5.30 after waiting over an hour for a bus back. I must have been indoctrinated into catpersonship as my first thought was to check the litter tray and put out more food and water for her. :o

Chicken soup is simmering on the gas hob for later and I am browsing on here while it cooks and watching original star trek.

    Hugs to all

    Evening all.

TA - thanks. No real mess just a puddle of water from the dodgy weather bar on the front door which gets the brunt of the gales. Facing the sea has some wonderful points but it also means rubbish weather when it comes to Atlantic storms.

Once the power came back on I was fine. We've been hammered here but everyone is well prepared and check on each other by text. One of my neighbours asked for a lift the her pub work as her car had died. I just pulled on clothes over my jimjams and took her.

Weather forecast is for more rain and possibly snow tomorrow! And then even more rain on Sunday. I'm just grateful that my weekend away wasn't planned for this weekend!

My time was spent reading, managed a whole book by skipping the descriptive passages about sun on lakes, beautiful hotels and romantic interludes - I focused on the crime story.

I'm a cat person too. When I was about eight years old I won a kitten in a school fair and had her until she died aged 20. Loved her to bits but wouldn't have one here.

I'm taking a flask of tea upstairs to bed and will read some more.

Hope everyone is safe, well and warm.

    Evening
Busy day today ended up working 2 hours overtime (can take it back at a later date). Then off to do weekly shop. When I got in I put cold food away had a very quick coffee. Then unloaded DW, loaded WM, retrieved bin as had blown down the road post emptying and prepped dinner which is hm pie, chips and peas. Just waiting for DS to let me know he's on way home from work and I will dish up. Once that all cleared away I will put feet up and curl up with my book.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

  • ELONA - I saw on the Northern news that work is underway on the foot bridge over the river. That will save a long detour for you and be most welcome I am sure x

  • BB so very sorry to hear of another untimely loss for you love, it's harder to accept the loss of a life only half lived than that of someone older who is into the winter years. They'll live on in your love of them and you'll never lose them entirely. It makes sense for each one of us to live life as fully as we possibly can to help make up for their unfilled years. Heavy hearted for you love, Lyn xxx.
