This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all
Insomnia strikes again, deep joy!
Hubby isn't working today, he has a meeting with the solicitors about his mum's will.
I shall get DGS to school and myself to work, after work I'll take DGD4 to dance, then drop her home, I'm not sure which DGC is staying tonight, if any, but the bed is made and everything is ready.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Oh HESTER I hope you got back to sleep again. I had a hit and miss night, waking up but managing to nod off again numerous times. But I managed to stay in bed till 6.00 which, for me, is a lie in!
Gertrude has been howling away all night, where are all these gales coming from! They'll run out of names for them soon.
The 3 girls are still asleep but will be to get up shortly. I think the bedroom swap was a mistake. The two youngest are too busy chatting and giggling and don't get to sleep. I threatened them with the previous sleeping arrangement if this carries on. Grr big bad grandma!
Once they are all away to school I have the pleasure of the usual Friday clean round. What fun! I really should clean all the windows inside too but may just avoid looking at them instead!
There is a fridge full of leftovers so today's meals will be planned around what I fish out!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
HH - hope your sleep pattern gets better soon x
Still dark here but it's very very windy, but we haven't got the awful conditions that the North/Scotland have. We're going away in our caravan today, sounds like it'll be a bit rough one. The site is very sheltered so once we're there it shouldn't be too bad.
DH and myself up enjoying cuppas and brekkie, DS1 gone to work and DS2 still in bed, but I'll be waking him shortly.
Got some jobs done yesterday - got the washing, drying and ironing done, packing, ran the hoover over and did a food shop, so boys have something to eat whilst we're away and we have something to take with us.
Have good Fridays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Scary winds outside this morning, I was woken by the rain battering the window, could be fun getting to work.
Washing on the airer, DW emptied and teapot filled! Went to bed early last night, just couldn't go on I was so tired.
Meeting work colleagues tonight for a couple of hours so will have something to eat with them, had salad last night when I got home from hospice.
Stay safe today, Gers - hope you're ok. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Very windy here too when it hits the bedroom window at a certain angle it whistles through them, which its been doing all night !
Off to work, I am so glad its Friday, tonight I will be doing a wash and nothing else its takeaway for dinner and then mucho wine and collapse on the sofa, than god I have this weekend off !
Need to pop to town tomorrow to look for some trousers for a party I am going to next week, and will have a mooch round while I am there.
Right better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning :hello:
It stayed dry with hardly any wind yesterday, so I popped into town. Picked up nephew's birthday present, just have to try and find a time to drop it round to him, we all seem to be free at different times so timing a visit is quite difficult
He'll be two in a few days and loves trains so they're getting a train to Bristol Zoo, he'll love it!
The wind and rain is back this morning, I hope we don't lose any more roof tiles – we haven't fixed the last lot yet. There was a big gust of wind just now, I have the kitchen window open and it must have created some sort of suction or something because the loft hatch 'jumped' and scared Scampi, he came tearing down the stairs growling and barking, hackles raised all the way down his back.

Apart from our walk this morning, which'll probably be very short, I'm not leaving the house today. Mr tru wants to visit a few places to look at fences, I think he forgets that fencing is kept outside at DIY shops, suppliers places etc. and there's no way I'm getting soaked traipsing around in the rain, just to come home empty-handed because we won't agree on anything

Good morning everyone
Another one here who didn't sleep very well. The wind is really howling here too so I think that had something to do with it plus I have very sensitive teeth at the moment and toothache woke me up initially. Oh well, I will have a catch up sleep when hubby gets home from work this afternoon, until then there is always matchsticks
.
The casserole went down very well but it was one of those recipes you can't replicate as it was using all the bits and pieces I had in the fridge and cupboard. Oh well, at least it got eaten. Hubby has requested cheese burgers for tea so I managed to put them on the tesco order before it gets delivered today. DD14 will moan so I also bought chicken burgers for her.
I only have one load of washing to do today, lots of towels surprisingly
:D. I can't tell you how nice it was to get in the shower last night. I am going to put the heating on in a minute too just because I can. The girls will be roped in on the weekend to have a housework blast as it's getting a bit grubby in places. If we just spend an hour or two each, it all gets done.
Well I'm off for my first cuppa of the day. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Just back from a wild and windy walk with the girls, thought it best to avoid walking under the beech trees so took the dogs round the field, Tilly spaniel sent a family of partridges up and made the rest of us really jump.
Am supposed to be meeting a friend over the yard this morning and taking the horses out but will see how the wind is. This afternoon need to get a few bits in ahead of Mum coming to stay for the weekend, tea is going to be fish finger baguettes and HM coleslaw so nice and easy.
Have a good day all and keep safe xx0 -
Morning all, have had a quite busy few days, so not been keep up!
The wind has been howling all night, spectacularly noisy, but although I woke at intervals, managed to drift off again. I want to be out today but possibly more sensible to wait for a less blustery day, not sure.
In between other things, managed to get some washing dry or dryish on the line yesterday. More in the wm now and a couple of loads to do as well but if I put it on the line, I think it could be washing done in the west midlands and later found in Sussex.
DS out tonight so just me and him indoors for dinner. Husband cooks on my working days, and on Saturdays, but I like cooking so tend to do it whenever I get time off.
Time to toga nice myself, hope that all affected by storms will be safe - I am not in an exposed place and I am glad not to be today, though most days I would love to be out of the city.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
