If I understand correctly, you have a SO set up to pay £800 to Barclays from the well known bank's current account.

You then pull 2 x £400 back to the well known bank's savings accounts.

You then have to move manually £400 from one savings account to the current account.

You then have to move manually £400 from the other savings account to the current account.

And then you've restored the status quo.

    It's all a bit cumbersome isn't it?

If you still have two manual transfers to make, and you're losing 3% AER on £800 for 60 days a year (not much I grant you), you may as well make these 2 transfers (the £800 in and, say, £780 out) manually and just collect the leftovers via DD? Then, once every month, just have a little tidy up at the well known bank?

That's how it reads to me..
No current accounts that allow us to pull DDs in to our accounts.
I don't know why we're talking in "well known bank" code, by the way

yes, I understand what you mean, abit cumbersome, but I log in once a month anyway to transfer all interest back to an account where I have space for it to gain interest, if that makes sense?

I called it a well known bank because as some one has mentioned (maybe in another thread) the more people mention it, and take the !!!! with £1 direct debits, they might people from setting up there own direct debits.

There are accounts out there that allow you to set up direct debits.
That's been known, and been done, by many forum members, for several years now.

You came along and suggested that you can SO money out of an account, and then DD it back into the same account. It's good that you have now confirmed that this is not what you are doing (as in fact, it is impossible to do so).

i love the fact you have put some much time into arguing about something so trivial. Was you bullied in school? Is that the real reason why you try to put people down from behind a computer/tablet or what ever? I'm pretty sure I never said the money goes back into the same account, I'll re-read my comments just to make sure.

It's not trivial whether you can do something with a bank account. You either can or you cannot.

I just helped clarifying a question that several people had. If you had said right from the start, or in answer to badger09's question, that the money goes back to a different account, nobody would have asked further questions. If you feel 'put down' by people asking questions about your posts, may be you need to make your posts unambiguous.

I don't know you, you don't know me, why would I feel put down, your opinion means nothing to me.

I done pretty crap in school, in fact I probably spent more time out of school then in, so I'm going to google the word unambiguous.

fair play Dan.. don't worry about it. there are wise heads here who really know their stuff, which can be a great help, but may also pick someone apart if they are unclear or incorrect. best to accept the former, and not be sensitive about the latter.:)
