how to download from phone to laptop

I've got a Samsung mobile which I've had for a couple of years, no problems. I use to download photos to my Samsung notebook by just plugging usb cable in, it would show on the phone screen and the on notebook, no problem.
Notebook died, so last week I bought a Lenovo laptop and I cannot get the photos to download. Connected usb and nothing shows on the phone or the computer. Could someone please help and I'm also not a technical person thankyou

Download, install the drive app on the phone and upload the photos to the google drive app then login to gmail on the laptop and download the photos.

what model of Samsung phone? , most (modern) ones , when you connect a cable , ask you if its charging/data, , pull the task bar down and look , if older model you have to go into settings and select , the phone should now show


you may need the Samsung usb driver , dependant on your OS ,

Couldn't download google photos, said it was not suitable for my device. Samsung galaxy, the task bar shows nothing. In settings the usb was not highlighted and wouldn't do anything when I pressed it.

what operating system are you using on your new laptop

just says the phone is charging. laptop is window 8

ok , d/load Samsung kies , much as I hate this prog , it does include the Samsung usb driver


you can either use the prog or just go into explorer and view/add/delete files after the driver is installed , HOWEVER I think you still need to alter a setting on your phone , but try kies first

Go onto PLAYSTORE on mobile via wifi or data

Download Google Photos

If it's just a few photos you can email them to yourself while on wifi.
