Call divert when abroad
Options
Can anyone tell whether this scenario will avoid roaming charges while I am abroad?
I have a monthly mobile contract with BT but they don't have any sensible way of buying minutes abroad, so I have got a Three SIM for two trips abroad to Spain in Feb and US in March/April. If I set up call divert to the Three number from the BT number, I am assuming that BT will not charge me for receiving calls since my Three number is UK-based even though I am actually in Spain/US. This is right, isn't it?

When using Three's feel at home you will not be charged for receiving calls from UK mobiles while in Spain or the USA, neither will the caller be charged any different to calling you in the UK. Both myself and my OH have Three mobiles and used them last year for a couple of two week periods in Spain and they were mostly OK, although sometimes the host networks swapped around and sometimes there was no data...
Beware that Three limit the overseas roaming under "feel at home" to one month at a time...
I don't know if BT Mobile make a charge for diverting a call to another UK mobile though.
One of the few networks that don't charge for incoming calls (on PAYG) while roaming in Europe is Virgin, however incoming calls in the USA are £1 per minute (ouch)!0 -
Thanks. That's what I thought too; so as long as BT don't charge (and I can't find anywhere that says they do), I should be OK.
Thanks for the reminder about the Free at Home T & Cs too -- until I looked at the forum I hadn't spotted that. But they are only brief business trips so I just need to remember to use some of my credit when I get home too.0 -

Diverted calls to another UK mobile are included in plan allowances on all networks, it is treated as a normal manual call.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies...
