Evening. I apologise as I'm sure this will have been asked loads of times but I can't see anything. My son is currently on middle rate dla, he is 17 and recently was invited to apply for pip, I posted this recorded delivery and it had to be there by 17th November. Since then I have heard nothing. Now, don't get me wrong sometimes no news is good news and I don't want to stir a hornets nest or anything but should I be worried yet? I have seen stories of people applying in January talking of their assessments and not sure if to ring them to find out whats going on?
I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Hello,I have recently applied for PIP,I requested a review as my MS had got worse,I also had DLA so was a complete new PIP application,I had sent the information back to the DWP at the end of November then I got a letter dated 11 January with their decision.i was awarded higher rate for both Daily living and Mobility.I did not have an assessment but included a care plan from my social worker and letter from my MS nurse, which made all the difference,as I was worried about the assessment.I think that depending on where you live effects timescales re PIP.Good luck with your PIP application.0

Did you give them a mobile number? I got a text message to say they had my form.0

I did give them my mobile number, but I was chasing them up on a weekly basis, once I knew they had got the info,I spoke to ATOS who told me that they had reviewed my info then they sent that back to the DWP,so the weekly calls began.0

Don't forget Christmas so they are probably really busy sorting the ones from Christmas out.0

AlwaysHappy - when did you get the first initial contact by them to apply by the 17th November?0
-
I'll give you my timeline as we should match up - I'm in Glasgow.
Mid November - got letter inviting me to apply. I called the number the next day.
Letter appeared after a week and I posted the form back on 2nd December
5th December - text message acknowledging form.
19th December - text message saying claim was being processed and I may need a face to face assessment.
10th January - letter with appointment for face to face
27th January - face to face with Salus
I was told it would be 4 weeks from here.0 -

How come some people on here say the process only takes 28 days for some people? or is that after the face-to-face assessment?0 -
I think that's after the face to face. You get 28 days to return the form0

I think you are referring to the 28 days to ask for a reconsideration (part of the appeal process) if you are turned down for PIP.
There are no specific time limits as regards the PIP process, either for new applications or transferring from DLA.
The only difference in a new application and transferring from DLA is that you will continue to receive your current DLA payments until a decision about PIP is made.
People will have different experiences of how long it takes according to the areas they live in and according to the complexity of the application.
Once you have you face to face then usually you can be guided by what DWP say as regards a decision. However, this is only guidance.
The PIP process is outlined here:

There have been considerable strides made as regards to time delays and it does seem that people are receiving both their f2f and decisions much quicker than, say, a year ago. But, it does vary.
You can telephone the DWP to see how you application is going at any point, if you wish.0
