Portman ISAs: £30 transfer fee gone?

Until its merger with Nationwide, Portman was charging its customers a £30 transfer fee to transfer ISAs to another provider?

Can anyone confirm that post merger this fee is no longer levied?

There was some mention of this elsewhere. I was going to find out but totally forgot! Will speak to some people tomorrow. In my mind it's a question of it being part of the product or just a blanket admin fee (if you can see the difference). Hopefully the latter.

theres a period of either 30 days or 60 days ( i believe its the latter) following merger completion where funds can be moved out of all former portman accounts including isas both fee and notice period free)

  • If you dont mind me asking, which ISA have you gone for Bristolleedsfan?

I am looking through them at the moment. It is quite annoying finding one you like, then realising they dont accept transfers in. Grrrr

Check out the thread: Mini Cash ISAs: The Best Currently Available List.

You will find a section on ISAs (variable rate and fixed) that accept transfers in, as well as links to Moneyfacts' and Moneysupermarket's ISA search facilities.

  • Awesome, thanks Kazza.

I think I will go for the Kent Reliance one. I only have £6,000 (plus interest) to transfer from the Portman, so would not be eligable for the Ruffler Bank one.

Also, I think that Kent are one of the mutuals, so might be worth having some cash stored with them.

Would rather go for variable vs fixed, as I am hawkish on IRs, and the differential between the best variable, and best fixed is virtually nothing.

Would still be interested to know which ISA Bristolleedsfan went for, if he/she cares to divulge!

    Thanks.
