Hello Everyone,
I am about to move house and I wondered as I am out of contract with my broadband supplier (BT) am I better off cancelling my broadband with them or telling them that I am moving house in order to get the best deal from them when I move?

Many Thanks
D.

Go with another supplier like plusnet , get them to manage the move

  • Hey.

With my experience in having moved house before I'd cancel and ask for a new connection at your new place.

You will then be considered a new customer and be able to claim all the benefits of that.

Don't count in having any benefits if you stay with them. Well the only benefit would be keeping the same number if you weren't to move too far from where you live now.

Other than that I don't see anything positive.

I my case I ended up without internet for a whole month and didn't keep the same number anyway to mistakes they made.
This was all because I was on BT infinity in my old house and when they tried to transfer the whole account to the new address I couldn't have the same product as there was no infinity. This cause all sorts of trouble.

This was my experience anyway. Good luck
  • So that was interesting, rang up cancelled. £31 fee to cancel without moving provider.

Looks like I'll have to call back and tell them I'm making a deal with someone else and its going to another house.

Yes, that's the standard OR cease charge.
