are these default dates correct?

Hello.. just after some advice/ help..

I have recently checked my equifax credit file & found 3 defaults off Lowell Group DCA. They are very low amounts So i paid them straight away (£171, £185 & £30).. the part im unsure about is why the defaults were recorded along time after the Start date?

Heres what my credit file shows..

£171 start date: 15/04/2009, default date: 10/04/2011
£185 start date: 23/04/2001, default date: 02/07/2010
£30 start date: 17/05/2010, default date: 28/02/2013

Is this actually legal to record a default so long after the start date? If its not how do i get the ball rolling in getting Lowell to temove them.

Thanks.

Start date is when the account was 1st opened, if repeating the original info from the original credit.

Presumably you didn't open the accounts and then immediately default on them?

The start date is the date you opened your account, whether that be bank account, credit card account etc. Just because you defaulted in 2011/2010/2013, doesn't mean you didn't run your account(s) ok before that.

They are your accounts - when did you stop making payments on them?

Usually defaults are preceded by late payments so it will probably look something like 1,2,3,4,5,6 DDDDDDDD

Each will come off 6 years from the recorded default date, yes.

You should have really thought about that before paying it off, perhaps asking them to remove the default record as a gesture of goodwill if you paid. Now they have no incentive to help you as you have already paid.
