And, in case the above didn't make the point, it's a two-minute job to replace the fan.
It doesn't require any tech knowledge, and there are guides and YouTube videos in abundance to help.
Is there anything else wrong with it apart from this noise?0 -

Hi thank you all very much for taking the time to reply and post ideas for a new pc, I really appreciate it!
Googler you asked whats wrong with my current PC, It runs slow, it has windows XP which I thought was old and am unsure about upgrading etc. I didn't realise it would be so easy as to replace a fan!
Would you say I would be best to go to my local computer repair shop, rather than to somewhere like PC world to see what they say?0 -
Are you sure you wouldn't prefer a laptop to a desktop? This would work our cheaper and is obviously more portable, so win win?0

Do you have an install disc for XP?
I don't think you'll find anyone here who will recommend you go to PC World, and we can't really comment on your local repair shop.
We can give you advice on what to do, though, or point you at information online which will also help0 -

If she doesn't need it portable, what's the point getting a laptop?
By the way, I don't think laptop any cheaper. They are slower, more expensive to repair when broken, and can't upgrade.0 -

I have a new found distrust for PC repair shops, that includes the high street shops too......
Firstly I have a friend who used to work for one, the other staff did things like posting customers "personal" photos to dodgy websites.
I also tracked down a fake dating website that used stolen photos from various sources (like my ex-GFs Facebook) to create fake dating profiles, in order suck in and fleece desperate singletons. The photo theft was bad enough, but the site was owned by a computer repair shop. I phoned this shop and the guy on the other end was sh*tting bricks, he clearly had no idea how easy it is to track people down over the internet.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
