I'm hoping there will definitely be a bit of that too greent
She found the insurance for £1700 herself, £800 cheaper than DH could find it for - still an eye watering amount though.0 -
Ouch! Insurance is outrageous for young drivers nowadays
When I added my DD to my insurance after she passed last year it was over £1200 (for the remaining 10 months) - my renewal quote this year with her on was also horrendous! - I managed to get it down to under £1000 (just!) and agreed to a black box for 3 months - if the results are good I may even get a further discount. Big if though!I shall also hopefully be looking to add DS1 to my insurance this year - so am expecting another hefty amount (DD is away at uni so rarely drives my car and next year will be living less than 10 mins walk away from her main lecture theatres
)

Congratulations, but .... ouch to the insurance! Yep, she needs to contribute a lot of running around for that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Yes it is very ouch! This is with a black box and restrictions on yearly mileage and restrictions at night time.
She is paying for it herself out of her wages, although we did help her out with a few driving lessons, 6 months tax and a new battery for it. I think we will probably give her some petrol money too while she has to drive to school still now we are moving further away. It is only for another month or so.
Talking of the cost of motoring, both our vehicles have been in the garage for mot/service/repair recently. The garage normally takes a couple of months to send the bill through, but typically at a time when we could have done with it taking a while the bill comes through straight away!!! That will have to go on the CC for now until we have got ourselves straight.
I've ordered an online food shop to come to the new house Saturday night, and dog food delivery to come Saturday morning, so feeling a bit more organised. We will definitely be popping to the local pub to eat tomorrow night though. Firstly as we will have just moved, but secondly to celebrate DD2 passing her driving test.0 -
Pub meal sounds well deserved on both fronts.0
