I presume it is important to determine whether the funds I hold are clean before changing. Any idea how I can determine whether this is the case?
I don't think it is important.

The fee is 0.25% with Cavendish and 0.35% for direct so you save by using Cavendish

Im also with Cavendish. No probs.

Back to the OP, why not invest an extra £50 (or however much your annual charge is) cash into your largest fund, and let them take it from that, leaving your fund size intact.

It doesnt work like that. You can hold cash in a 'cash fund' in the account, but unless that is your largest holding, they will sell sell units in the largest one.
