in Credit cards
Can anyone tell me how to make a credit card the default one on PayPal.
I have a MasterCard and an Amex with cashback.
I want to use Amex most of the time except for foreign currency.
How do I make it so it defaults to Amex.
I hope I'm missing something simple here.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question you just go to your PayPal account and check alongside the card you wish to make default? Tried to include a screenshot but it wouldn't show. URL is https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/settings/wallet/0

Where is the "default option"?
When I click on the card I have edit and confirm options.
Am I getting a different interface because I'm using an iPad? i.e. The website designed for mobile phones.0 -
Unfortunately there is no way to make your credit card the default funding source. If you have a bank and credit cards on your account, their system is designed to use the bank account first and use the card(s) as a back-up.
If you want to use your Amex, you have to physically go in and change the funding option when you pay. I don't believe you can.
PayPal charge the same purchase transaction cost to the seller regardless of the method of payment. But the cost of bank transfers to Paypal is far cheaper and therefore making that the defacto default is a no-brainer money spinner for them.
So the only option is to change the payment source selection on each adhoc transaction.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

Ok, but every time it presents the MasterCard (not my bank account).
Why is that?
Is it because it was the first card I added or the last?
If it's something like that I might be able to remove and add a credit card to get the one I want coming up automatically.
So if it picks the most recently added card, I could remove and re-add the Amex.
Odd that 2 of you say bank account and that's not what it does for me.0 -
Can't say whether the iPad makes a difference but on my laptop if I go through to the URL I gave you I get a page where the accounts you can pay with are listed. There should be two sections. The one on the left saying "Paying in store" and the default payment option will have a green tick. If you tick the one you want that then becomes the default (and I used a cashback card on that until it was discontinued).
The section on the right is headed "Paying Online" and this has a check box you can tick to "Choose a funding source at checkout" so if all else fails you should be able to pick Amex there maybe.0 -
You need to go to the preferred payment options section, to do this:
- Click the cog near the top right.
- Go to the 'Payment settings' section and click on 'edit' next to payment preferences.
- Set your preferred credit card.0
