I have posted all my wage slips etc today so I guess now I just wait for the letter to come to say how to pay it back?
She said this morning that I may get a fine for reporting it late to them. I dont know if you know anything about those? How much it would be?
Sorry I have no idea regards a possible fine, I didn't work in the Benefits section, I chased very large amounts of Child Maintenance.
All I feel I can comment on is your question regarding paying back money you owe.0 -
Penalties normally only apply where they believe it's benefit fraud.
I would think in this case they'll just want their money back.0 -
I did a google and it came up with
The £50 civil penalty applies if your benefit is overpaid because you:
negligently gave incorrect information and didn’t take reasonable steps to correct your mistake
didn’t tell Jobcentre Plus, a disability benefits centre, the Pension Service or your local council about a change or failed to give them information without a reasonable excuse
Says civil penalty!0 -
Why did you leave it so long before telling the DWP that you had started work?0
-
Regardless of the mistake you made over the date, you still left it four months (five months maybe!) before telling them. That could attract a fine. No one here can tell you 100% of it will or not0
