Hi All,

Are there any mobile companies/carriers that are offering discounts for teachers currently?

Orange used to offer discounts for teacher's, but that was a while back.

Would really appreciate members help in pointing me in the right direction.

  • Vodafone do, it's about 20% off. I did it online and sent an email from my school email address as proof, or you can take a wage slip in store. Mine was very straight-forward but I know some people on the forum have had problems getting VF to apply the discount.

Appreciate the info on this Haylescom, thanks very much!

One of things we are beginning to realise as a family, is that we might have been missing out on the many perks/discounts/benefits available to teachers in others areas too.

It would be really helpful if you (or anybody) can point me in the direction of a thread, or a guide that can help me discover this hidden world of benefits/discounts/perks for teachers.

I know about the countdown card scheme - and now thanks to you about vodaphone - but thats about how far I have gotten!

Doesn't your trade union provide this kind of info to members?
The problem with these discounts is that they will all be with mainstream providers such as Voda or EE, whereas many MVNO's can undercut them by more than 20% anyway.

Correct! Not much point getting a discount on an expensive contract in the first place

a teacher should be able to work that out:rotfl:

I'd have to agree that Voda does get quite bad press from friends and family in London. Is it really only voda that has any teachers deals at the moment?

In reply to your point about the union providing such info. - they do - but only with organisations they themselves have agreements with.

I'm hoping that teachers here might be able to add to that pool of knowledge and expand my knowledge on what might be available.

Forget about teachers discount. It doesn't, in reality exist. Search for the cheapest deal about which suits you, possibly SIM only, in my case TESCO mobile

Spot on. Focus on the best price, not the discount (which will only be a discount on the uncompetitive Voda rack rate).

  • Can't understand why any network would offer someone in a well paid job, who shouldn't be using their phone at work anyway, a discount! What's the world coming to.

Vodaphone does discount for all sorts of industries and company employees, but as said, even with a discount doesn't mean its the best deal.
