Holiday home, Wi-Fi or not???

We are planning on letting our house in France as a holiday let. So should we get internet?
How much extra is it worth or will it just make it easier to let?
The house has UK TV but no phone and mobile signal is poor. It will cost about 60€ to instal, 32€ a month and 50€ to cancel.
Thoughts please.

Personally, I would never rent a property without Wifi being available.

    Same here.

I'm off to Bournemouth tomorrow night for a single night stay and only looked at B&B's and hotels with wifi in the room. Not business related at all.

Depends if there is decent 3g - i get unlimited 3g in france on three payg so wifi would not particularly interest me if i had a good 3g signal but being trapped in a "black hole" area would be a real pain with no wifi

Yes definitely. Wi-fi is an essential, right up there with a dishwasher.

  • Absolutely yes. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere without wifi.
I could cope without a lot of things but wifi is so important

I'd agree, wifi is now on the list of must-haves ...

OK, I get the message so will order it, speed last year was about 4Mbps so not too bad, Mobile is poor, often no signal in the house, just by the garden fence. Yes it has a dishwasher, induction hob, and all the luxury stuff so will adjust the price up to cover the internet.

It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, although certainly a lot higher up the list than a dishwasher that stands a good chance of never being turned on. However, if other properties in the same area have it then you're at a disadvantage without (apart from anyone specifically wanting an internet-free holiday), and if they don't have it then by providing it you'll put your property ahead of the pack.

While some people might like the idea of an "offline" back to basics country retreat, you'd be cutting out a large section of the market if you don't have wi-fi and everywhere else does. It's then up to the renters if they use it or not.

As someone who works in technology, I would rather have wi-fi in a property than a TV (especially when abroad) but I do like the occasional no-tech holiday without a phone, computer or even my trusty Kindle in order to totally switch off from the modern world.

I'd rather have a nice property to stay in. If it has wifi, so much the better, but I wouldn't choose a so-so place with wifi over a nice one without wifi. But then I'm with Three so get free roaming in several European countries.
