    Hiya all

Zaxdog - hope all went well with Mr Z's appointment! Am totally with you on saving by taking your own food to hospitals. DS1 and I ate only one meal in the canteen (which was nice and about £4 a head) while his partner and new babe were staying in hospital. After that son kept on bringing his own in! Nurses didnt like him eating cuscus and veg on the ward and canteen didnt like him eating there either - in the end he found a sheltered seat and used to go and eat his lunch there. :D Have to say tho that their coffee and tea was only £1.10 which, although not cheap, was not what you would pay if it was a franchise within Northampton hospital. (this is, I gather, what many hospitals have!)

As a family we have several versions of portable lunches - cuscus and roast veg or pasta salad being 2 of them - what do the rest you do?
    Nite all

I've only got 6 bread cakes and the 8 bridge rolls left out of my last YS bread stash, I'm visiting a friend tonight near MrM's so may pop in on my way home which will be about 6.30-7 ish I will not buy anything else just head to the bread section and the YS fridge section. x

    Does this help:
The best way to store the chillies without deteriorating them is to freeze them. The best time to freeze your chillies is before they are ripe.

Three simple ways of freezing chillies

1... cut the stalks. The seeds must also be removed including the membranes. You can slice the leave or chop it into smaller pieces. [Freeze in a single layer on] a steel tray [and transfer to a bag when frozen]

    2. Another way to preserve chillies by freezing them is to put the whole chillies in a plastic container. Before freezing the chillies in whole, you need to make sure that the chillies are dry.

    3. Another alternative to freeze chillies is to put it in the ice cube tray after chopped...pour water into the tray and leave it to freeze just like you make ice cubes.

If you plan to chop them, make sure you are using latex gloves to save your fingers skins from burning. Remember, only use high quality storage bags when preserving crops and plants

That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Back from my YS trip and visiting my friend I got hovis granary loaf 5p from MrM's. Sainbobs TTD large Victoria sponge .89p from £3.50, TTD Moroccan couscous 39p from £1.50, 4 panini 29p from £1.20 x2, 6 tea cakes 24p from £1 x2. MrT's finest all butter and cheddar scone pkt 4 15p from £1.50 x10, veg couscous 5p from £1 x2, bunch of daffodils 5p from £1, baby leaf salad bags 4p from 79p. Asda tub of salsa 14p from £1. OH came to collect me as it was drizzling so we did little zig zag route home. So £4.75 instead of £31.66

So the freezer is full to the brim again, with loads of treats and salad stuff.
