just following up to say....I DON'T do the underpant tip!!LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0

I did think the underpants "tip" a bit bizarre. I get mine in packs of 3-5 for about £3-5 and so far the last lot I've got've lasted 10 years +.
Maybe other people do more stuff in their underpants than I do....I just wear them.0 -
she must live somewhere fairly affluent were others are not bothered about YS bargains.
Around here you need elbow pads and full body kit to get safety near the shelf when the final reductions are done :rotfl:
Most people do not have the time to go every-night to the shop for the YS items but if she does then good on her, she is not doing anyone any harm.0 -

Hi. I go YS shopping about once every three weeks. I usually get a trolley full, for around a tenner. Sometimes there are a few people there, sometimes only a couple. There's a bit of a scramble sometimes, but never any nastiness. I shop in other places as well, A few items from Aldi, and the discount stores. I am retired so I can do this.
If I am going out somewhere and passing a supermarket on the way back I always make a point of popping in to see if there is anything reduced. Always worth a look,.
I eat a lot of vegetables, and make them into soups and stews and freeze them in margarine tubs. I buy reduced bread and put it in the freezer.

I do enjoy reading your blog Ilona! :j
While our circumstances differ, and I'n not as near to YS bargains, your writing is lovely and I have both learned a lot of practical things and found a great deal of inspiration in your musings!
I must admit though, I think mean-queen is a misnomer, as you sound very generous and your fabric bags are great!
I've also added a few places to my must-visit list after reading about your walks.
Thank you (and your furry pals)

Indeed I too must comment that you have a great outlook on life Ilona, and reading your blog, I envy your meeting with Jo Brand , even if it was bucketing down.
Well done on your blog I have book marked you and will keep reading it

VfM4 I think we all get to a stage in life at some point when enjoying the simple things are more important than the cash rich things.
Books however, to me are one of the greatest pleasures to be had in life .
As you can see from my very rough 'dog-latin' quote in my signature, which more or less trandslates into 'too many books, not enough time':)
Where I live, the forays into the second-hand book shop, or the C/S it books I normally seek out and I find it hard to resist them.
To me I am just as happy to be frugal with my food shopping, as I am very easy to feed, and prefer my own cooking.Yet there are few times I can walk past even a jumble sale, without just having a wee peep at the books:):) I'm not fussed about clothes or swish nights out or fancy meals ,but to snuggle down with a really good book and get 'lost' in the story is wonderful, a cup of tea by my side and a slice of HM lemon drizzle and I am a happy bunny
:):) easy to please aren't I
