Yes the Trailor is about 1150 sq ft. We are about to have it reclad on the exterior with new gutters at the same time. So $$$$. I keep a seperate account for rental repairs but have nowhere near enough. Bad Mila! Fortunately the markets are up and have given us some extra cash. OH inherited his parents stock market account a few years ago and although it's not all that much, it does help in times like this. Mostly we never see that money as he wants our kids to have a small inheritance too. We never could save much because raising six kids on a teacher's salary didn't stretch very far.

DS2 had given DH a gift cert at a restaurant he loves for Father's Day. We went and had breakfast and presented the card for payment. It had nothing on it! When he bought it, he paid with cash and we think the clerk kept the cash and didn't activate the card. He no longer has the receipt. So his sweet gift was a bust. How sick is that!

That is messed up. How would you ever prove it, though?
  • Aww no way Mila that is awful about the voucher! You just need to try and think that the person who took the money needed it more than you did. Hope you enjoyed the breakfast, until you had to pay! xx

I went to the dentist this a.m. for annual checkup and was told my teeth grinding was so bad I needed to wear a mouth guard at night because I was shifting my teeth. I knew I was wearing them down, but this is a new developement. Great gobs of goo went into my mouth for the custom fit and I go back in 9-10 days, when the guard comes in, to have it checked. It's $350 now or very expensive dental work later. So I guess that it is an MSE choice that I have made for the future of my teeth. I had to dip into my emergency fund, but that's why it's there. Now I have to tighten up and put the money back into EF savings.

I hope your week is going well. You have been posting such solid financial news and I want to tell you I see such a great shift in the way you are handling all things financially based. It's just very impressive to see your growth and how far you have come in just mere months! Congratulations RC. You are such a determined smart woman!

  • Aww thanks Mila but I feel like a fraud accepting that nice comment with what I am about to post!!

Yesterday we had lovely weather, 33 degrees - that is very tropical for the North of England...decided to have a BBQ! Spent £12 on burgers, sausages, baked potato, rolls, and salad stuff. I haven't broken the bank it has come out of my food budget, but I also didn't need to buy it. Oh well my dad came round since my mum is away for the week with her sister on holiday and DS and DD were in and we had a lovely dinner out in the garden together so sometimes you need to change the plans!

I have also booked a massage for Saturday £32.50 and paying for it out of my personal spending money which isn't too bad as on Saturday I am going to my friends late afternoon for a BBQ. Every year she has a BBQ and every year it rains! Luckily we don't buy presents, I have a card at home and will take a bottle of prosecco with me to give her. Will try get dropped off and will just need a taxi home. Both my friend who doesn't drink and my pregnant friend who are my taxi drivers are on holiday so there goes my free ride! But it isn't far and will be about £5 in a taxi so the whole day will cost me £10 absolute max.

Out for lunch today but it is with work so all paid for :D so I will enjoy it even more xxx

  • And at least you had the money there for the dentist, just need to build it back up. Private healthcare and dental care is a benefit in work that I get so at least that is there if I need it, but hopefully not!!
