My arrangement is similar to those home owners that live in Wimbledon and have tennis players live in and the home owners go away for the tennis tournament.

Oh the that's form HOWLNWWTTIOAHPS /01?

    As I said it's a holiday let.

So you're point is absolutely nothing to do with the OP, congrats.

I just had a google and this was the result:

I am grateful for your interest in my affairs and trying to keep me on the right path, even if it is unsolicited.

I was just explaining that your arrangement is not applicable to the OP.

That form is the official: home owners who let near Wimbledon when the tennis is on and have players stay / 01
  • Welcome back...
....I actually checked this arrangement via landlord zone and it was there that I discovered that an AST was not what was required.....
I will happily pay £10 to an agreed housing charity if you can point to a suitable authority that your arrangement is not actually an AST: Even if the paperwork says it is an AST...
....However, the present arrangement suits both me and my renter who may or may not be a tenant. I am really not concerned if it does not suit anyone on here!
That's as maybe, but my money is still on it actually being an AST.

Given possibilities of you being sued for up to 3xdeposit this is probably an issue worth your while bottoming out.

    Best regards

There are various comments regards her arrangements on here ..why pick out out mine ?

Also I have responded in one post ..not "posts" as others have to reply to her comment which was about her insurance when the OP's question wasn't about insurance it was about council tax so its hardly me hijacking a thread is it :rotfl:

I just picked one of them as yours was the last of many posts. It was about CT but not an answer to the OP question which was my point.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

    back to the original question.....
your landlord is definitely trying to hide/avoid something - Landlord licencing, Tax evasion, not having consent to let etc etc
If I were you I would WRITE to the council and ask for their advice regarding your liability if the account falls into arrears - a perfectly valid enquiry.
If the Landlord starts pushing the issue, tell him you are waiting for a reply from the council and show him a copy of your letter.
Then stand back whilst he wets his pants!!
  • Thanks everyone, all sorted with a sensible conversation with the LL.

For those still interested / on topic :), the LL is trying to improve their credit rating. Mistakenly thinking council tax had a positive impact on that. Now adding to the electoral roll rather than taking over council tax payments. Problem solved.

Dearest Mrs. Bradley, I apologise for my little thread here resulting in a bit of a witch hunt against you. For my two cents, if everyone is happy with the arrangement and the proper authorities / HMRC are informed then I don't see the harm.

Still weird...why can't they just add themselves on to the electoral roll where they actually live?

Still sounds like an attempted tax dodge to me...

They are in the process of moving and will be staying with a friend for the short term. Consistency on electoral roll is key for credit rating so makes sense not to change constantly I guess.
