  • Good afternoon,

Today has been the last day of my week off :( however, as much as I don't really want to go to work tomorrow (3pm till midnight…gah) I'm kinda looking forwards to being physically active…Im super lazy otherwise and i've eaten so much rubbish! Back on it from tomorrow!

Today I got paid so have paid rent aaaaand paid off Barclaycard! Whoop whoop! :) will pay off Halifax CC when tax man cheque clears later this week…
    * entertained the niece making biscuits and cakes with all ingredients in the house
    * long walk around the farm with niece
    * all meals from home
    * no hair wash day…little things make a difference and al that
    * checked TCB
    * checked FPL
    * phoned First Direct about switching
    * jacket potatoes and cleaning up bits from the fridge for tea
    *

    Need to:
    * list things on eBay (just can't find the motivation for this task!)
    * make soup and something for dinner for next couple of shifts this week…
    * sort out a decent savings account so I can start saving properly, rather than just convincing myself I'm saving…I'm not.
    * read some more of the book i'm reading in one sitting and actually get into it, currently i'm reading it very sporadically and i'm sure it's excellent, I need to give it more attention (The Night Circus)

    Think that's it…

Hope you all have a good evening x

I got that for xmas from my brother and SIL (although only received yesterday as haven't seen them). Both read it and said it was excellent although takes a little bit to get in to it. My brothers exact description (he texted me - my memory isn't that great!) "will blow your socks off with gymnastics of fantasy and word once your in"! FYI - he is a hippy! :rotfl:
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)

    Hi

Have done everything on my list today. Am just about to leave the office and may have a quick swim before bed.

No point rushing home DS2 will be back at his milking job. DH will be out with cows and maternity shed.

    Have a good evening everyone.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!

Bob - I love the sound of all the challenges you do! The NST sounds awesome! I don't think I could keep up. Last year I did the virtual sealed pot and £2 savings but I never posted on either thread - seriously just couldn't keep up :rotfl: I've been trying to think about what I can do in Feb under the guise of 'come on, it's the shortest month - I could definitely do it

I have to say that I find the challenges the best thing for my own personal motivation to get rid of the debt asap. I like the feeling that each month is a fresh start to hit targets and achieve something. So if you did want to dip in for Feb you could without feeling that you had to commit to every month.
NST is fantastic, because the challenge is run by a different person each month. It isn't just a no spend day count up but a themed challenge which is why I like it.
PAD is another favourite. It kind of links to this thread I think. What small way can you pay to your debt today?

Batch cooking works for me too Bob :) My daughter does this thing where, if one of her friends is having a baby, she will make loads of meals and fill their freezer for when the new arrival puts in an appearance and the parents don't have time to think, let alone cook :) I think that is such a lovely thing to do, and is so appreciated :A

That is so nice Dawn, what a kind daughter you have. I suppose because of the cafe no one wants to cook for me :) most friends seem to also feel the need to apologise for the quality of their coffee if I ever go round too. It's so embarrassing ;)

    Evening all :D

So first proper day back today, think I'm gonna find this more difficult nowadays as I don't have complete control over my household  I work the longest hours and as a result I do the least around the house, I have to rely on my family members to do MSE things!!! :rotfl:

La E, DNMS and Ally I know who you all are, might need some reminders of others though!!!

    So this is me:
    - Checked online accounts
    - Had two breakfasts at home to fill me up :rotfl:
    - Took snacks and drinks into work instead of going to the shop
    - Breakfast club emailed me bill for DD, showing a £25 credit? I questioned it as wasn't expecting it and have now overpaid! Doh!
    - Clarified costings for netball tournament in Spain in June, £200 less than I was anticipating so I'm happy with this. Just need to work the payment into my budget!
    - DSister made dinner from meal plan, she had left over roast beef from yesterday as she fell asleep
    - Looking to hunt out cheapest deal for ottoman storage bed for spare room
    - Look into Saniflo system for downstairs loo installation (not for a while yet, need to convince DH first!!!) Thanks to whoever posted that, it reminded me.
    - Reading free book on my kindle later and early night :D

Hope you've all had a productive day today!

    J x

Anything that's free to enter :rotfl:

There's a great section on the Forum here and loads of competitions on Facebook, Twitter, - just remember that if it seems to good to be true it probably is but if you have spare time then go for it I won almost £4000 of prizes last year - some I kept myself, some I gave to charities (homeless/young mums) or shared with family and friends.

    My top tips

    Enter "free" comps
    make friends with compers
make a list of what you'd like to win and target those prizes
enjoy comping or it becomes a chore

  • Hi everyone
I'm late checking in tonight. Seem to have lost my mojo a bit again. It's definitely work - I've been grumpy from the second I woke up this morning, but I won't bore you all with it. I'm just struggling to make myself do something, whether it's work, dfw or anything else related.

[STRIKE]:p check banking and PAD (4 days till payday)[/STRIKE]
:p get dh out and about doing something epic fail
:p get the kids to do something round the house another epic fail
    [STRIKE]:p full day of teaching[/STRIKE]
:p mark a set of books nope
:p try really hard not to stress didn't stress but didn't do much else either
    :p exercise nope
    :p early night we'll see
:p keep a wombling eye out round school no time

Wow - I think that's the worst I've ever done in the entire time that I've been posting on here. It is a bit of consolation that most people seemed to be in a bad mood today - obviously something going on somewhere.
I did do a couple of other things though including
:p making a loaf of banana bread for breakfasts this week and using overripe bananas
:p did the big monthly shop online for delivery on Friday
:p made pork dinner and have enough left for rubber pork over the rest of the week

Thanks Dawn. I wondered this too - currently overpay my mortgage (only by £100 a month) but did wonder whether this was the right thing to do. I think for me, psychologically, its better to overpay then save.

£100 per month is £1200 per year. That will save a lot of interest over the mortgage term :D
