GnuCash doesn't look very user friendly, I like the fact its support on all platforms and is open source though.

I used to use MS Money but changed to GnuCash many years ago... For account management I find it much the same as I remember Money to have been but then I never used the automatic download features of Money (I want to check transactions manually) so don't miss them.

GnuCash has all the features I want -- support for multiple currencies and account types (shares, savings, CC), scheduled transactions, reports -- and the ability to take the data file seamlessly between Mac and Windows (something I do reasonably often).

    It's also free :T

In a word, GnuCash. Oh ok, that could be two words :) Free, open source and cross-platform and a related app for Android. Personal and small business double-entry book-keeping / accounting software. I love it so much I want it to have my babies.

Yep, or money manager, which is also free and syncs between devices. A must for me now a days. I don't think ms money does that.

Not sure why people live it so much to be honest.

Money manager even supports custom reports which means you can write any report you can imagine if your competent in sql.

Use MS Money. It works. Why change?

Same here. I'm still using it and have done on Windows 10 as well.

I've also invested in the update software that allows share prices to be imported which was well worth the $10 it cost.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I'm still using Microsoft Money. I bought it on CD years ago.

We have Windows 10 here and for a while it wouldn't install, but now it's compatible and am happy that I can carry on using it.

Have tried loads of other programs and nothing compares to it.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

MoneyDance looks very pretty lol, and its OSX which is what I'm using at the moment (might be going back to Windows soon though)

Money Dance does seem to be USA orientated by the screenshots, correct me if wrong?

    Cheers
MoneyDance is available for Mac, Windows and Linux. It originates in the US, true, but it works fine with any currency you want and you can even mix and match currencies, for example I have shares in US dollars. It all works fine for my UK accounts, the only thing that doesn't really work is direct access to my bank accounts, but I don't want to do that anyway.

I've seen a few people say that Money doesn't work for them on W10 but it's been completely trouble free for me. I certainly wouldn't have switched to GnuCash based on how unfriendly it was when I tried it a few years ago, although I accept it could have been improved since then. I did start to look at the alternative that Colsten is using but didn't see any real benefit in moving from Money (although I do still have a hankering for Quicken to return).
  • I miss Microsoft money too. We had an old version of it quite a few years ago but it would not work on our new laptops so I changed to quicken and now personal accountz. It is not as good or functional as ms money though so these days I make do with spreadsheets and a spending tracker app on my phone.

I've never used (or heard of) MS Money, so I may be way off the mark. But, I use moneydashboard.com.

The UK version of MS Money 2005 is still available for download from Microsoft at:

Another stick with MSMoney it works and does so much more with the data.

only issue is no instant access data recording through apps but if you budget properly you don't really need that.
