Hi All,
Many years ago I used to use Microsoft Money, along side my Nationwide Building Society Account.
it would download all the transactions/balances and categorise them include graphs and such it was a breeze!
Nowadays its long gone and I miss it. Ive googled looking for alternatives in the past and never found one that is aimed for the UK market or has matched MS Money all these years after.
its been a while since I have looked again but thought I would ask here if anyone currently uses one or can recommend one?
Currently I use an Excel spreadsheet and download my transactions via CSV file and do my own graphs and such but a proper tool to do this again would be great.
Who else misses Microsoft Money ??

Lots and lots of people are still using MS Money as most of the other packages can't touch its functionality.
There are a few threads on here discussing alternatives. You can use the forum search to find them.0 -
You could still get Money Sunset De Lux free from Microsoft the last time I checked, it works with Windows 7 but seems not to work with Windows 10 (it keeps closing at random) see https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=207380

I cant believe MS Money hasn't had a revamp or a competitor hasn't come to the forefront.
Even if a developer made one that had all the features MS Money had back in the day on current platforms it would be brilliant.
Trying to use old versions on current OS's isn't viable, I was hoping someone was going to reply with.... YES I use so and so...0 -
Lots of competitors have come forward.............but almost none of them can match MS Money. Which still works perfectly well, even in Win 10. Having said this, I have migrated to a supported package myself.
Please do search for previous discuss.0 -
In a word, GnuCash. Oh ok, that could be two words
Free, open source and cross-platform and a related app for Android. Personal and small business double-entry book-keeping / accounting software. I love it so much I want it to have my babies.

I use MoneyDance. It works fine, handles investment accounts and even has an extension that will download transactions from your bank, but not many UK banks are available. You can download OFX or QIF files though. It does reminders, budgets, reports, reconciliation etc and works great. I've been using it for about five years now.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0

Thanks for the replies guys.
GnuCash doesn't look very user friendly, I like the fact its support on all platforms and is open source though.
MoneyDance looks very pretty lol, and its OSX which is what I'm using at the moment (might be going back to Windows soon though)
Money Dance does seem to be USA orientated by the screenshots, correct me if wrong?

Use MS Money. It works. Why change?0

UK MS Money is still available to be downloaded. It works fine on Windows 10 and prevsious versions of Windows. See here, Ignore the stuff about a problem with windows 10, the problem was fixed in an MS windows update last year.
Dont get the Sunset version - that's US and is incompatible with UK data files.0
