Mobile phone minefield

Okay, I know this is a very wide open question, but in the minefield of mobile phones I really don't know what to avoid and what would be ideal.
Don't understand half the tech sheet either.

Hoping somebody can advise on some good phones... nothing massively extravagant... looking at <£30/month free handset deals... but:

- use it a lot for eBaying and online... so ideally a good touch screen for typing etc.
- want a fairly good camera. To photograph stock. Currently I do this with my partners iPhone which is okay, but usually have to take pictures in to photoshop to autolevel the colour... ideally want something that'll take spot on photos without this need - but not essential as long as the camera is iphone 5c quality or greater.
- used to have a 4s but the screen is a little small, so ideally want a larger screen.
- reasonable memory

Fairly good camera suggests something like the Sony XPERIA Z5 or Microsoft Lumia 950?

    Why free handset?
If you don't have any money to pay upfront, why are you prepared to waste £30 p.m. (£360 p.a.) on a mobile?
I can understand using a mobile to buy on Ebay, but it's beyond me why anyone would use it for selling instead of a comfortable PC. Ebay's advert "sell on the go" is beyond me either.

For £60 you can get a very good camera: Fuji S8650 Digital Bridge Camera White 16MP 36x Optical Zoom £59.00 @ Tesco Direct

Why not buy a s/h iPhone and go for a SIM only contract?

I consider £360pa 'massively extravagant', but maybe that's just me.
And the handset is not 'free'-that's what makes up a large part of your monthly payment.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
