Does it have to be VISA?

    Take a look at Revolut.

    Take a look at Revolut.
How can the OP top it up without a debit card and a current account?
You can deposit money to your Revolut account only from a bank account registered in your name. Transfers from third parties, including but not limited to companies, friends & family, will be returned to the sender's account after deducting processing fees.
Pockit card can be loaded through PayPoint, although at cost of 99p.
  • no it does not will me not having a permanent address be a problem with getting the card?
  • someone will top it up for me

Stop talking for a moment and start reading/listening.
That said, 'someone' can get Revolt on their name and give it to you.

Simply try instead of guessing. You have nothing to lose.

Pockit is probably the best value prepaid card at the moment, if you need to load cash and have wages/benefits paid in. But you will need to provide a verifiable address in order to use it, or any prepaid card, in more than a very limited way. When you have the address you can probably get a 'basic' bank account and card anyway.
    Evolution, not revolution

    Pockit.

If you want a card with the facilities of standing orders and direct debits, Cashplus. Or consider Secure Trust Bank.

For prepaid cards you need a verifiable UK address which means be on the electoral roll and have a credit history for electronic verification. Or be able to produce ID such as a passport and address verification such as Utility Bills or a government agency letter such as Jobcentre, tax, local authority, etc.

Revolut is probably the only card you can get without verification but in that case you are limited to a maximum total load of £1000 a year and you need an address to have the actual card sent to and you need a smart phone to run the app.
