win key + pause | break, and you want to check something like driver manager(havent used windows in a long time)? not too sure it will give a list though and it will have a ! if something is wrong.

I will get back to you when I've got windows up and running, unless someone know what I mean and explains it :).

it just hit me, system information (winkey+pause|break) >> hardware >> device manager >> and check the drive.
you could possible try reinstalling the drivers by right clicking the drive from their and uninstalling then rebooting the pc.

i think thats the best option, another one would be checking for new firmware.

So please the more info the better

Also try right clicking my computer - properties - Hardware - Device manager and check from there

Does your DVD/CD drive have a power light? if so is it working,
does it play DVD/CD at all? is it a Audio error or visual error or both...?

ive put in a music cd and a dvd and it doesnt play them, i go to my computer and i click on the dvd drive and the contents of the cd/dvd arent displayed,

hang on i think i knw what the problem is, if i clcik on my dvd drive it says just above where the icons are listed "Files ready to be written to cd"
