How to check if dvd drive is working

Those files are only temporary files and will not affect the operation of the drive.

They can be safely deleted though.

To be on the safe side i'd check that the data cable is properly connected between your drive and your motherboard.

Other than that the only other thing I can suggest would be to try a firmware update or buy a new drive.

Have you tried the disks in any other machines just to be sure the disks arent at fault?

I know the music cd isnt at fault as it was in the hifi the other day, so i can delete the files then,

Yep, they are just temporary files marking the location of the items intended to be burnt to a disk. They were either left behind after being burnt or someone was going to burn them and never got round to it.

Have a go with unplugging and replugging in the wires to the drive. Dont forget to turn it off first to keep the health and safety bods happy

Well its not because the driver s werent up to date, ill have to check if the cables are in correctly next week, cant see how they can easily come out,
