Private Window opens and I can use it with confidence. Just close it by File - Exit or Click the 'X' in top right corner, it reverts to the normal window.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Even if you do not save it, the file was still downloaded and recoverable on your computer with the right tools.

Any and all files you open online, are initially downloaded to a temporary directory. To see this go to the start menu and type in %temp%

Thanks for all the help.
I've decided to switch back to Firefox. Have selected the 'never remember history' option.
When I opened a financial statement on website, I now got the choice of whether to save or not, so selected 'not' and files are not appearing in 'downloads'.0
