New Halifax Clarity Card - Just checking..

Options
Just received my new Halifax card.
The actual card is a blue Clarity card... but when I log into their online banking it just states I have "Halifax Mastercard".
Even when I went to activate it, it showed "Your Card" and showed a picture of a standard black Halifax mastercard.
Nowhere on the online banking site does it mention it being a Clarity card.

Is this normal for everyone?

I don't want to go abroad spending and then come back to find loads of fees because its setup as the wrong type of card on my account.

  • It's not unusual for such vague branding.

Just keep hold of your T&Cs. There all you need.

Yep, mine is exactly the same. I've had it for years, used hundreds of times abroad over the last 10 (ish) years and never had a problem

    Good o. Just checking.

The Halifax online banking is a bit pants compared to what I'm used to (first direct).

As others said above, it's normal as they just use the bog-standard Halifax online banking site.

When you get your first statement, look at the PDF version and it should say Halifax Clarity Credit Card at the top right of page 1, just above the card number. Also, the terms/fees (or lack thereof) are reconfirmed on the statement in the Summary Box section.

Why not ring them up and ask?

    Errr....
Because I thought it would be easier and cheaper to ask on here. And it was.

And probably more likely to get you the right answer!

We've had people here complaining that they phoned the Halifax and asked them what rate they'd get for spending on their Clarity, and being told the current selling rate for cash, not the Mastercard rate! Some CS staff are clueless.

Really? Let's just say that's not a common view!

I have had the Clarity MasterCard for several years. When I first had it I was concerned that it may not be the right one because there is no Clarity on the card. I went in to the branch to check and was assured it was right and it was. I understand people may be anxious - as I was. Pity Halifax branding on cards wasn't better.
