Bizarrely, Costco accepts Amex, and debit cards, but not other credit cards. Probably, they have a special deal going, as they push a Costco Amex card.

I pay £30 extra for the Costco Executive membership, which gives 2% cashback for Costco spend, then I get 1.25% for using the Cashback Amex.

As there is an annual fee for the cashback Amex, I need to spend ~£2,000 a year at Costco just to break even. Lets just say that I spent enough to make it worthwhile.

I find it quite funny because the UK is the only country that Costco renewed its agreement with Amex. Costco's don't take Amex in Canada or America anymore.

We do do most of our grocery shop in Aldi, but given that they didn't accept any credit card until fairly recently I can live with that. May well apply for this card then, would be nice to get some cashback again, and 0% interest is always good

It might worth looking at the gold card for the first year. The signup bonus on that is 20000 points, which is enough for 2 European flights return (1 or mid haul flight) or about £100 in cash. If you get referred you get a few thousand more points on top.

The only places I find that don't accept it are B&Q, Burger King, Dominos, KFC and Smyths Toys. And a lot of independent hotels and shops, despite Amex's marketing campaigns.

KFC are odd, my local one used to take it, but has recently stopped!

Dominos don't directly, but if ordering online you can use Amex via Paypal, with no extra fees.

That's not quite as comprehensible as your usual posts - in fact, I haven't got a clue what it means!

Assuming cashback is the goal, there is usually something better than Amex. I use the TSB 5% when paying contactless, under £30. Santander 123 gives 2% cashback in John Lewis, and 3% on petrol.

Which you need to spend £2000 in the first 3 months to get
which is enough for 2 European flights return

+£70 in taxes, assuming usage of avios

Wilkinson started to take Amex about 10 months ago. Although they don't really advertise the fact and in some stores you have to swipe the card as their machines don't work with the chip on Amex cards. Subway is franchise dependent, some do and some don't.
