Unfair ASDA parking ticket

Over the past few months I have received two parking tickets from Smart Parking after apparently overstaying my welcome in an ASDA car park in Hamilton even though I was shopping in ASDA.
My first port of call was Money Saving Expert and read the forum which made my decision to NOT pay the initial £40 fine. Two months late another letter arrived for £80, didn't pay that either.
But now I have received a DRP (Debt Recovery Plus Ltd) dated 19 January 2016 stating that the case went to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom on the 4 November 2015 and I now have to pay £120.
Now if I am correct in saying so (as I binned the letters, oops) the second letter that I received from Smart Parking arrived in late December asking for the £80 and the court took me to court (this is news to me) at the start of November 2015. This doesn't quite figure but do I continue to ignore these ridiculous letters?

Do you mean Hamilton as in Scotland. If so then you can ignore everything.
Read post 4 of the NEWBIES thread to find out why it is safe to ignore debt collectors.
The bit in bold needs clarification as the parking scumpany can't take you to court in Scotland unless they know who was driving. Since you ignored them they can't (shouldn't) have that information. Did the letter perhaps say they may take you to court?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
you should have appealed them to Smart parking and then to POPLA, not ignored them
IGNORE has not been correct for 3 years
now please read post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread and yes IGNORE DRP or any of their other names, they are powerless
no you have not been taken to court , Barry Beavis was, he lost, unfortunately for all of us
you should complain to ASDA and show receipts or bank statements and insist they cancel both of these outrageous charges (if you shop there and dont just bilk the car park without using their facilities)
if these are not cancelled , you run the risk of a court case in the small claims court over the next 6 years (like Barry did)
dont ignore them in future either, that NEWBIES sticky thread tells you all you need to know about this topic
and dont forget IGNORE DRP , they can do nothing at all, but Smart or Asda could
edit
just thought , although you didnt say Scotland, you said Hamilton , so if thats Scotland you can ignore Smart Parking and ignore DRP too , in which case read the parts about Scotland where the laws are different
but a strong complaint to ASDA is a good idea0 -
Redx, I posted all of that and then thought, Hamilton, Scotland? So, we need to know this information first.
This doesn't alter the fact that a complaint to the CEO is still in order.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
We've had a couple of parking tickets in asda, its normally easier to just go speak to the store manager and get them to cancel them.0

same here , great minds think alike, lol
so totally agree, if its Scotland its IGNORE, but I still think the complaints to the store and Head Office should be made, without mentioning who the driver was as you quite rightly say0 -

Not if you live in England or Wales and it doesn't get before the appeal deadline runs out. Complaints to the manager should always be in addition to an appeal unless you get the cancellation in writing from the parking scumpany before the appeal deadline.I married my cousin. I'd pretty much second the above, By all means complain to the store manager and tell them to cancel the charge, but do ot take your eye off the parking companies arbitrary time restrictions for challenging/appealing their fee,
If the store is co-operative and you have been polite ( but firm) ask for a written confirmation.
if all goes well you should get a letter form the store apologising with some guff about maximising car parking spaces, and a confirmation letter from the ppc stating the charge has been cancelled complete with the awful "as a gesture of goodwill" statement
If the store does not co -operate then go back again this time tell them that you may charge the store for your time wasted on this as a result of their agents actions at £19 per hour plus any additional costs.
Also on no accounts let slip who was driveing your car on that day, refer to yourself as the registered keeper, and the parking event as the/my car was driven to your car park and not I/He/She ( or any other relative/friend etc ) drove to the car parkFrom the Plain Language Commission:

So, Scotland or Queensland? It's a sine qua non.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

We need the OP to confirm that this was Hamilton in Scotland first as opposed to a district of Leicester.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0
